Every day, more than 300,000 employees work to ensure customer satisfaction across rail, ocean and air traffic networks that DB operates. VISCOPIC works with DB Netz AG to bring railway switch drives in mixed reality. We are also working with Volkswagen Education Lab to bring their robot training into a mixed reality world. The solution allows technicians to learn how to operate robots through Microsoft HoloLens and mixed reality, creating a holographic robot representation. Since the physical machinery will be replaced by holograms, Volkswagen will be able to efficiently execute future trainings, regardless of time and place, at no extra cost. https://goo.gl/ioHDdw

Once again we visited the Bits&Pretzels founders exhibition in Munich. Bits & Pretzels is a 3-day founders festival that connects 5.000 startup enthusiasts with Speakers and Table Captains from the start-up scene. This time around Philipp Lahm, Stefan Raab, Kevin Spacey and Christopher Keese were presenting their ideas and opinions about the scene. Bits & Pretzels creates unique networking around Munich Oktoberfest and encourages meaningful relationships between founders, investors and the media.
We had a booth for the full two days and were able to use a lot of opportunities for networking. The Hololens presentations, as always, received very positive feedback.
Recently Viscopic was mentioned in the Süddeutsche Zeitung again. The article is about Gate in Garching, an office block where tech start-ups and young entrepreneurs can rent space to work in. The business incubator helps small business owners to develop their ideas and even provides consulting for free. After no later than 5 years however, the start-ups have to move out again. “This is the moment when you have to make something big – or when it becomes apparent: this doesn’t work that way” tells Christian Heckemann, the business executive of the complex.

In June we visited the biggest AR and VR event in the world, the augmented world expo in California. With 4700 attendees, 351 speakers and 212 exhibitors it was the biggest AWE so far. The topic of the expo was how AR and VR can be used to drive economic growth, encourage empathy and collaboration, democratize healthcare and education, and promote sustainability in the world.
Felix, our Co-founder, held a speech about tele-immersion, a new way of collaboration. The underlying idea of the discourse was that today’s 2-dimensional methods of telecommunication via displays lack very important aspects of human interaction, with the absence of physical presence involving the dialog partner leading the way. The concept of tele-immersion is to let people interact via technologies such as 3D capture, real-time reconstruction and Mixed Reality devices like the Hololens, as if they were in the same room. Just like in popular Hollywood movies such as Star Wars, the dialog partner is being visualized as a hologram.

We participated again at the pioneers event. Pioneers´17 was about technical progress and how this will influence our lives in future. Especially technologies which enhance human capacity and face the worldwide challenges were exhibited. Among the participants were 500 selected startups and renowned global innovators. As one of 50 selected startups we had the chance to pitch in the batch industry 4.0.
The event dealt with questions about how innovation and technology will affect our future, speaking about our daily life and the way our future society works. An important point is to let technology enhance our life but also keeping our values. The event was visited by more than 2500 founders, investors and executives, who arrived from more than 100 countries.
This week, we visited the event re:publica. Thomas, our Co-founder, had a presentation about the use cases of VISCOPIC´s training application. Re:publica is a conference about digital culture and addresses a wide public. The various fields of experience and backgrounds of the attendees created an interesting conference and a broad range of issues.
Thomas´ talk was about learning with Augmented and Virtual Reality. He also showed the application which VISCOPIC developed for the Deutsche Bahn. The public was fascinated by the use of these new technologies as well as by the advantages which provide the immersive and collaborative learning methods, that VISCOPIC´s training application provides.

Marco and Thomas were at START Summit in St. Gallen. The entrepreneurship conference aims to reach students, founders and investors and puts the focus on new innovative technologies. The panels and debates in particular talked about augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence and more use-cases of these innovative trends. We had two days full of interesting one-one meetings, workshops, keynotes and new contacts.

We spent this week at CeBIT, the biggest IT fair worldwide. As one of 450 startups we had our booth in hall 11 and impressed the visitors with our training application for the HoloLens.
At our booth, we informed the interested visitors and experts about our products and let them try out a demo version of the application VISCOPIC developed for Deutsche Bahn. The visitors were amazed, enthusiastic and fascinated what is possible with the new technology.
We had a lot of interesting talks and also could take some time to have a look around. We feel honored we had Brigitte Zypries, the German minister for Economics and Energy, at our booth trying out our mixed reality training application.
We felt very proud when we realized we were invited to MUST – The Munich Summit, an event for startups and corporates. Being one of 120 startups that were present, we had the honour to be part of an amazing that included panels, pitches and workshops.
MUST, initiated by the Entrepreneurship Centres of Munich´s universities, has its special exclusivity and intimate setting. It counts about 400 participants who get great chances to interact with each other.
